David Bowie, Maine Road, Manchester, 14 July 1987

The first time I would get to see Bowie in Manchester  They tended to be less rigorous with bag checks at outdoor concerts, and I managed to get the camera in without a problem.

This was the first of two nights Bowie was at Maine Road. Only recently have I discovered that the support acts were Terence Trent D'Arby and Alison Moyet, so they clearly did not make a big impression on me!

We were fortunate with the weather as the following night's performance did not include Bowie being lowered from the top of the stage in an Armchair singing "as he entered and during the encore abseiling down from a similar position singing "Time". The following evening the winds were too high and they dropped these two "high rise" parts of the performance with Time being dropped from the setlist completely.
