Born and brought up in North Yorkshire I moved to Manchester to study Mathematics and follow Manchester United, the football team I had a passion for since I was a young child. I graduated to take up a job as a trainee chartered accountant on the outskirts of Leeds although I continued to follow United, attending nearly all of the home matches as well as many away ones.

In 1986 I returned to Manchester to work as a tax specialist at a major accountancy firm before moving to the head office of the Great Universal Stores Group ("GUS") in the Ardwick area of Manchester where I met my wife Ruth. I stayed with GUS until it demerged into Experian and the Home Retail Group (owning Argos and Homebase). I continued in the Experian part of the business, moving to Ireland as Head of Group Tax. I stayed with them until I fully retired in 2022, having already moved to County Wexford in the South East of Ireland. We have 4 grown up children and 3 grandchildren.

I spend much of my time in retirement working around our 50 acre Equestrian property and pulling together some of my personal records including compiling records of various aspects of my life including this record of my gig experiences.
